London Pregnancy Photographer | Beautiful Outdoor Photoshoot in Hampstead

Feb 13, 2023 | Maternity Photography

As a London pregnancy photographer, I love exploring the many beautiful outdoors locations the city has to offer. You might already have a location in mind that holds particular significance to you, or I would be delighted to suggest a few of my personal favourites.

About Pregnancy Photography

Becoming a mother is an incredibly special experience in any woman’s life, whether it is for the very first time or fourth time, and I would love to document these moments for you and there are so many reasons why you should freeze this moment in time. Pregnancy photography, also known as maternity photography, is a beautiful and intimate way to document your own journey to motherhood.

Through the use of natural light, flattering poses, and carefully selected settings, I aim to capture the love, anticipation, and connection between you and your unborn child. As a trusted pregnancy photographer, I want to provide you with images that serve as precious reminders of the bond that begins long before your littlest love is born.

Pregnancy photography sessions can be tailored to reflect each mother’s unique personality and style. Some may choose to have a serene, intimate session in the comfort of their own home, while others may opt for an outdoor setting that hold special significance to you as a couple.

To get an idea about what an pregnancy photoshoot could look like, take a look at some favourites from an outdoor maternity photoshoot in Hampstead Heath last summer.

About Hampstead Heath & the Pergola

Hampstead Pergola & Gardens is particularly spectacular. Founded in 1904 by the generous Lord Leverhulme, this hidden treasure exhibits remarkable Edwardian architecture and verdant gardens, making it a perfect setting for all kinds of family photography. It feels as if it’s straight out of a film.

The main feature of this breath-taking London family photoshoot spot is the Pergola, an impressive timber and stone structure adorned with climbing plants and veiled in wisteria. Stroll along its column-lined pathways and take in the splendid views of the neighbouring gardens. The Hill Gardens boast a collection of terraces, graceful lawns, and vivid flowerbeds, creating a tranquil backdrop for the Pergola.

As the seasons change, the gardens become decorated with a variety of blossoming flowers, offering a constantly evolving palette of colours. This particular maternity session unfolded on a lovely summer day, with the lush foliage providing refreshing shade from the morning sunshine.

How to prepare for a pregnancy photoshoot

To ensure a smooth and enjoyable session, here are some helpful tips to prepare for your maternity photography experience.

Select the perfect timing: I recommend scheduling your maternity photoshoot between the 28th and 36th week of your pregnancy, when your baby bump is prominent, and you’re still comfortable moving around.

Plan your wardrobe: Comfort is key during a pregnancy photoshoot, so choose outfits that make you feel confident and at ease. Consider incorporating flowing dresses, form-fitting tops, or elegant maternity gowns that accentuate your baby bump. Don’t forget to coordinate colours and styles with your partner or other family members who will be part of the session. Have a look at this blog post for more tips on

Consider how to pose: If you’re planning a maternity photoshoot, it’s useful to think about how to pose to create stunning and meaningful images that you will cherish for years to come. Have a look at these tips and I will also always provide gentle guidance during our time together.
